Honoring the Freedoms Our Ancestors Helped Secure
Adopted on December 15, 1791, as part of the Bill of Rights, the First Amendment to the United States Constitution protects freedom of religion, speech, and the press, as well as the rights to assemble peacefully and petition the government for a redress of grievances. These freedoms allow us to research, discuss, and share our family’s history.
