"The First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances. It was adopted on December 15, 1791, as one of the ten amendments that constitute the Bill of Rights".
This website does not encourage its visitors to independently attend Native American churches or cemeteries in the Buckhead or Saint James communities of North Carolina without an invitation from a church member. It has been brought to our attention that after learning more of their family’s history on this website, some cousins have decided to visit and/or fellowship with their fellow cousins at Christian Churches in the communities.
During church services, it has been reported that parishioners would move from their seat and have the visitor(s) sit alone causing some of the visitor(s) to feel unwelcomed. After service, some of the visitors were approached by church members with hostile intentions and questioned why they came to the church and who invited them. (Please note: Unfortunately, this appears to happen especially for darker complexion family members)
Also, it is encouraged that if you would like to apply for tribal membership with the Waccamaw Siouan tribe DO NOT mention this website, it’s authors name, East Arcadia, and/or Famers Union, North Carolina. Mentioning these items may be cause for automatic disqualification from consideration.
